Nevada Wolf Pack athletic director Doug Knuth would love to see his university host Oakland Raiders training camp in the future, but he’s also realistic about the kind of money his department would be willing to sink into the infrastructure upgrades required to lure the NFL team to Reno.
“We would 100 percent need help,” Knuth said of paying for those upgrades during his “State of the Wolf Pack” address Tuesday afternoon. “We could not do that. We have 16 sports and the 11th-largest budget in our (11-team) conference. We have our own financial challenges already, so we’re not looking to take on more. It’d be a huge benefit to our community, it’d be a huge benefit to our program for sure and we’re going to do everything we can to try and figure it out.
